At Long Last

All right, so now that finals are nearing their end, I figured I'd post again in the name of symmetry, with an update on what my project is looking like at this point. In a nutshell, it's very nearly done. Kelly modeled the towers, and now that they're done I'm finalizing the animation that will put the sun setting directly between them. The only fly in the ointment is Google Earth's annoying decision to make the sun disappear once it gets about 10 degrees above the actual horizon, rendering it nigh invisible from the point-of-view of the Coricancha itself. The way around this, of course, is to begin at the Coricancha and fly up to the towers at an elevation, preserving the lateral angle but with a bird's-eye view. I like to think of it as the IMAX version of Inca astronomy, and the version I've worked out thus far is actually pretty arresting. The only sticking point now is determining how to make the fly-through run smoothly, rather than pausing for three seconds at every waypoint. Otherwise, it's all looking pretty good...
